Refund and Cancellation Policy

MyGyan — owned and operated by GenSutra AI Technologies Pvt Ltd

Effective Date: 28 July 2026 Last Updated: 28 July 2026

1. Scope

This Policy explains how to cancel a MyGyan subscription, what happens when you do, and when we may issue a refund. It forms part of our Terms of Service.

If your access to MyGyan is provided by your employer or another organisation, this Policy does not apply to you directly — your access is governed by that organisation's agreement with us. See clause 7.

2. How to cancel

You can cancel a paid subscription in either of these ways:

  1. In your account — open your account settings and cancel your subscription there.
  2. By email — write to [email protected] from the email address registered on your account.

We will confirm your cancellation by email. Please keep that confirmation.

3. What happens when you cancel

Cancelling stops future renewals. It does not end your current billing period.

  • Your subscription remains active until the end of the billing period you have already paid for.
  • You keep full access to your plan until that date.
  • On that date, your subscription ends and your account reverts to the free tier.
  • We do not refund the unused part of the current billing period when you choose to cancel. You have paid for that period and you keep the benefit of it.
  • Your learning history, courses and progress remain on your account after you revert to the free tier, subject to the retention periods in our Privacy Policy.

You can cancel at any time before your next renewal date. If you cancel on the renewal date itself, the renewal may already have been processed — see clause 5.

4. Recurring payment mandates — please read

When you set up a subscription paid by UPI Autopay, card-on-file, or e-mandate, you authorise a payment mandate with your bank or UPI provider. That mandate is registered at your bank, not with us.

Cancelling your MyGyan subscription stops us from charging you. It does not automatically remove the mandate registered at your bank.

You may therefore still see an active mandate in your bank app or UPI app after you cancel. We will not charge against it, but if you want it removed entirely, you need to revoke it yourself:

  • UPI Autopay — open your UPI app (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM or your bank's app) → Autopay or Mandates → find the MyGyan or GenSutra mandate → Revoke or Cancel.
  • Card on file — contact your card issuer to remove the standing instruction.
  • e-Mandate / NACH — contact your bank to cancel the mandate.

If you need help with this, email [email protected] and we will guide you through it.

5. Refunds

Subscription fees are generally non-refundable. You are charged in advance for a period of access, and you keep that access for the full period.

We do, however, review refund requests individually. If something has gone wrong, please contact us — we would rather fix it than have you feel short-changed.

5.1 When we will normally refund

We will normally issue a refund where:

  • you were charged in error, charged twice, or charged after a valid cancellation;
  • a technical fault on our side prevented you from using the plan you paid for, and we could not fix it within a reasonable time;
  • you were charged for a renewal you did not authorise.

5.2 Other requests

Any other refund request is considered on its merits by our support team. We look at how much of the period you have used, what went wrong, and whether we could have prevented it. We may approve a full refund, a partial refund, or decline — and we will explain our decision.

5.3 When we will not normally refund

We will not normally refund where:

  • you simply changed your mind partway through a period you have used;
  • you did not use the subscription, but it was available to you;
  • your account was suspended or terminated because you breached our Terms of Service;
  • you are asking about a charge more than 90 days in the past.

5.4 How to request a refund

Email [email protected] with:

  • the email address on your account;
  • the date and amount of the charge;
  • the reason for your request.

Refund requests are reviewed manually by our support team. We will:

  • acknowledge your request within 72 hours;
  • tell you our decision within 7 working days;
  • where a refund is approved, process it within 7 working days of that decision.

Refunds are made to the original payment method. Your bank or card issuer may take a further 5–10 working days to credit it. We cannot control that timing.

Refunds are made in the original currency of the transaction. We do not compensate for exchange-rate movement or bank charges.

6. Trials

  • Free trials are not charged, so there is nothing to refund.
  • A trial does not automatically convert into a paid subscription. We will not charge you when a trial ends unless you separately purchase a plan.
  • When a trial ends, your access reverts to the free tier.
  • We may end a trial early if our Terms of Service are breached.

7. Organisation subscriptions

Where an organisation purchases Seats for its personnel:

  • The organisation is our customer, and cancellation and refunds are governed by its agreement with us — the Organisation Terms, or a signed Master Services Agreement and Order Form where one exists.
  • Individual Seat holders cannot cancel or claim a refund for a Seat provided to them. If you are a Seat holder, please speak to your Organisation Administrator.
  • When an organisation cancels or its subscription ends, its Seats are released at the end of the paid period and Seat holders revert to the free tier.
  • When an organisation trial expires, allocated Seats are released automatically and Seat holders revert to the free tier.

8. Failed payments

If a renewal payment fails:

  • we will retry it a limited number of times over the following days;
  • we will email you so you can update your payment method;
  • if it continues to fail, your subscription may be suspended and your account reverted to the free tier;
  • you can restore access by paying the outstanding amount or starting a new subscription.

We do not charge a fee for a failed payment. Your bank may.

9. Price changes

If we change the price of your plan, we will tell you at least 30 days before it applies, and it will only take effect from your next billing period. If you do not want to continue at the new price, cancel before then and you will not be charged it.

10. Chargebacks

If you think a charge is wrong, please contact us before raising a chargeback with your bank. We can usually resolve it faster.

Where a chargeback is raised, we may suspend the account concerned while the dispute is investigated, and we may provide your transaction and usage records to the payment provider and your bank as evidence.

11. Your statutory rights

Nothing in this Policy affects your rights under Indian law, including the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. In particular, this Policy does not limit any right you may have to seek a remedy for a deficiency in service.

If you are unhappy with a refund decision, you may raise it with our Grievance Officer:
